Dr G Geetha Krishnan is Senior Consultant of Ayurveda and Head of the department of Integrative Medicine, at Medanta- the Medicity hospital. He coordinates the Integrative medicine activites of Medanta. He creates interfaces for evidence based use of traditional medical knowledge in bio-medicine research and practice. His area of interest are clinical protocols and herbal drugs. He has several publications and patents approved in United States and European Union for a herbal formulation in diabetes. His area of expertise are Integrative Medicine, Ayurveda, Yoga, Botanical Drug Development, Inellectual Property Rights on Traditional Medicine, and Clinical Trials. As a clinician and researcher at Medanta, he engages in identifying the unmet clinical needs in bio-medicine practice, formulating corresponding integrative protocols and creating evidence to the patient centric integration of Ayurveda, Yoga, Panchakarma, Diet, and Herbal medicines to Biomedicine protocols. He has extensive experience in Integrative administration of Ayurveda and Yoga for patients suffering from Cancer, Heart and Neurological diseases. He has designed and implemented the integrated heart disease reversal program at Medanta. He has also designed the inegrated stroke rehab program and integrated cancer survivorship program of Medanta, and is in the process of initiating both as clnical programs at Medanta. A certified Ayurveda medical practitioner from University of Kerala, he is an MD in clinical pharmacology, from the same University. At present he is a member of Scientific advisory committees of Regional Medical Research Center (Indian Council for Medical Research), Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) and Central Coucil for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (Ministry of AYUSH). A recent high point of recognition of his work is the visit of Jeffrey D. White, M.D., Director, Office of Cancer Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and Barry R. O’Keefe, Ph.D, Chief, Natural Products Branch, along with their team from the National Cancer Institute (NIH, USA), when the AYUSH ministry, Government of India, selected Medanta as the clinical organisation to highlight successfull attempts of Integrative Medicine in India. He is also the Editor and Excecutive Board member of the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine‘, the most prominent and indexed Scientitic Journal in the filed of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, published by Elsevier, the science publisher.
