Vaidya, Director of the E.I.V.S. (European Institute of Vedic Studies)
Dr. Atreya Smith is Founder and Director of E.I.V.S. (European Institute of Vedic Studies), a prestigious cultural institution and for training in Āyurveda which has numerous affiliations worldwide. At 19 he began his studies on the Upanishads and the Vedanta. This passion led him to live many years in India in direct contact with the most influential masters, following the classic tradition of teaching: "mukha-mukha". Since 1987 Atreya Smith practices Āyurveda and Jyotish.
In 2005 he has been awarded in Varanasi (India), with the title of 'Vaidya' in honor of his great work of translating classical ayurvedic texts and as a tribute as recognized and respected expert of Āyurveda.
He founded in 1998 the E.I.V.S. and in 2002 the publishing house Turiya.
Expert on Jyotish, is a member of the American University of Vedic Astrology.
Atreya Smith is also member of the American Herbalist Guild (USA) and of the Herb Research Foundation (USA).
He graduated in Biology with an experimental thesis on nutrition in Āyurveda and its studies on ayurvedic pharmacology have taken him into contact with the most eminent professors and experts in India. He completed his doctorate with a thesis on the application of traditional pharmacological methods with the Europe botanical resources.
Atreya Smith is member of the faculty of the School of Ayurvedic Medicine "Ayurvedic Point" in Milan.
He is author of numerous books on Ayurveda translated into six languages.
